The “Monkey See, Monkey Do” Effect Begins Here
At this age, repetition becomes normalization.
What children see over and over — even passively — becomes their idea of:
• How people act
• What is “fun”
• What is normal behavior
Sleep Deprivation
• Screens close to bedtime reduce sleep quality
• Poor sleep shows up as irritability, hyperactivity, and emotional outbursts
Concentration & Focus
• Children become wired for short bursts of attention
• Slower activities (books, puzzles, play) feel “boring” by comparison
Social Confidence
• Screen‑based entertainment replaces imagination and cooperative play
Children have fewer chances to practice sharing, negotiating, and patience
What to Do
• Protect sleep first — this alone improves behavior dramatically
• Limit repetition of the same fast‑paced content
• Encourage boredom (it leads to creativity)
What NOT to Do
• Don’t punish screen use
• Don’t try to “fix everything” at once
